Going Mobile KW volunteers deliver 80 or more meal bags five days a week to people experiencing homelessness. Our volunteer community outreach group provides support in Kitchener-Waterloo (KW).
The people that we support may be living in temporary accommodations such as motels, or living rough on the streets. Our support may include the nightly delivery of a nutritional meal and items for warmth, community resource list, kindness, and a caring ear with dignity and without discrimination or judgement.
Small items are also shared when possible, and we strive to help with special requests for necessities. Small items may include weather-appropriate clothing, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, blankets, hand warmers, tarps, over the counter medications, toiletries, etc., as inventory permits.
Food is individually packaged and served on a low key level in order to create a comfort zone without pressure. Many of our outreach group members are unsheltered or the loved one of those we serve.
This effort is funded solely by donations. The kindness and generosity of our community members is much appreciated. Monetary donations give us the most flexibility to purchase what we need. Donations of food, small items, facilities, and time from both individuals and businesses are always welcome. Going Mobile KW has established partnerships with local community resources and businesses, working together to help our most vulnerable.
